Thanks go to Kathie Kirkpatrick for her years of service keeping track of participants walking the Dupont YRE.  Kathie has been transferred to Wisconsin.

Paid members – 37
Honorary/Life members – 6
Total membership – 43
An e-mail reminder was sent to the 9 families who haven’t paid their 6/2008-6/2009  membership dues.  There were 3 responses (1 withdrawal, 2 will send dues).  Still waiting for response from 6 families equaling 11 members. Those present at the meeting recommended that Oct. 15 be the deadline for payment so a new roster can be prepared.

Sickness/Sympathy – Joan Greiser
A get well card has been sent to Larry Walsh.

AVA Checkpoint
This is now delivered electronically.  Bob Wright wrote a column on ‘soliciting funds’.  Donation jars are considered soliciting funds.  Let Diane Wagner know if you want a copy of this.  Also, there is information about the electronic filing of the 990 form.

ESVA Meeting
The next meeting will be on October 4 in Spanaway/Parkland.
Action taken at last ESVA meeting held in Pullman:
1. ESVA will no longer sanction events.  (4+Foolhardy club will sponsor the Feb. NW Trek event; Emerald City Wanderers will sponsor the Alki event.)
2. Footprint patches for youth (formerly referred to as Girl Scout) passed.  500 will be ordered.
3. Request for $10,000 by Publicity Committee was tabled to talk with AVA and possible partner efforts.
4. Sam Korff feels clubs should pay for additional Northwest Pathfinder at .40 each if extras are needed.  Possibly brochures could be used in lieu of Northwest Pathfinder.  WA clubs disagreed with this.
5. Palouse Hills decided to fold and closed their YRE’s.  Other clubs will be taking over the YRE’s which include several county walks.

Old Business
Girl Scout Walk in Dupont
– Ken & Joan Grieser report that they have enough volunteers to help at walk.

Christmas Party – This will be held on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. at Vince’s Italian restaurant on 324th in Federal Way. Planning committee members are Alicia Maxcy, Joan Grieser, Diane Wagner & Dauna Perry. We’ll be collecting food for the Federal Way Food Bank.  There will be a gift exchange and those attending are asked to bring a wrapped gift worth $10.00.

Break for drawing – no drawing was held.

New Business
Dupont
– Sanction/permit applications will be submitted by 10-1.  We will use the same start point at the elementary school.  A park has been opened near the new middle school that would make a good check point.  It has a covered area and restrooms which would eliminate the need for one port-a-potty.

NW Trek – Sanction will be submitted by 10-1.

Mt Cheam Volkssport Club – (our sister club in Chilliwack) This club will be folding on 12/31.  They have the following walks planned for this year:
Oct. 18 – Country Garden Store in Chilliwack
Nov. 15 – Harrison Mills/ Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival
Dec. 26 – Jolly Miller Pub in Sardis

Carol Walsh, ESVA Treasurer, tendered resignation effective 12/31/08.  Nominations are being accepted.  There are 2 possible candidates as of now.

Larry Walsh, ESVA Area Coordinator (West Central South), tendered resignation effective 9/20/08. Anyone interested should contact Bob Morrison, ESVA President.

Good of the order
The Emerald City Wanderers Volkssport Club plans to bring a motion to the next ESVA meeting on Oct. 4 asking either a reduction in after action fees or the separation of The Northwest Pathfinder from Oregon.
The motion was made, seconded and passed to recommend that the ESVA and Oregon publication of The Northwest Pathfinder be separated.

If a vote comes up at the Oct. 4th ESVA meeting Diane Wagner will pass along the above recommendation from The Over the Hill Gang.

Adjournment – The meeting was adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Marianne Bastin, secretary
