January 27th 2010 Meeting Minutes

The Over the Hill Gang Volkssport Club
January 27, 2010

Call to Order Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by president, Diane Wagner.  Twelve members were present.

Correspondence E-mail was received from Chuck Garrison.  He will be moving out of the area in February.

Milestones Don and Shirley Lindberg are on the home page of the AVA website.
Events:  Shirley Lindberg – 2900, Chuck Garrison – 1150
Distance:  Betty Hellers – 30,000 km

Minutes  Motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the minutes of the December 9, 2009 meeting.

Treasurer’s Report Ken Grieser reported that the checkbook balance is $1,708.75.  All bills are paid.  He has a deposit to make.

AVA Checkpoint
The deadline for the April 2010 American Wanderer is Feb. 25.
The AVA is requesting bids for the 2013 Convention.  They are considering other months than June (possibly April, May or June). Changing the month would require a change to the bi-laws.

ESVA Meeting January 30 in Vancouver, WA.

Membership Marianne Bastin reported that the club has 43 members.

Sales Alicia Maxcy reported that she has books and some club shirts.  Shirt sizes available are    5- lg, 4- x lg, 1 -xx lg.  She urged members to wear club shirts and jackets at club events.

Sickness/Sympathy Chuck Garrison was slightly injured after a fall on a snow covered trail.

Old Business
Sea-Tac Route
 – Joan and Ken Grieser have been working on this trail.  It needs to be wheeled to check on the distance.  They recommend that the trail be used as an event.

AVA Starting Points They have arrived.  Most have been distributed and paid for.

Break for Drawing $10.00 was collected.  Joan Grieser won $5.00. $5.00 went to club treasury.

New Business
Dupont

The workers list is available.  Bill Steward has completed the route.  The worker’s walk will be held in March, date to be decided later.
The Sequalichew Trail is closed due to wash out.  The Club seasonal on this trail is sanctioned but will probably not be accessible by April 1.  Another possible route will be investigated as a second YRE in Dupont until the trail is opened again.

Federal Way Year Round Event
Ken and Joan Grieser have an idea for a trail and will bring a report for the next meeting.

ESVA 
Proposed motions from The SeaTac Volkssport Club, Interlaken Trailblazers Volkssport Club and The Daffodil Valley Volkssport Association were read and discussed.  The motions concern the financing and distribution of the Northwest Pathfinder.
A motion was made, seconded and failed to pass to support the motion proposed by the SeaTac club.
A motion was made, seconded and passed to support the motion proposed by the Interlaken Trailblazers club.

No vote was taken on the motion of the Daffodil Valley Club because that club has decided to table this motion.
