February 28th, 2001 Meeting Minutes

Minutes From February 28, 2001 meeting of TOTHG Volkssport Club
at The Round Table Pizza, Auburn, Washington

The meeting was called to order by President Jack Maxcy. Fifteen members were present even though a major earthquake had occurred only several hours earlier.
Minutes from the January 24, 2001 were approved as submitted; Correspondence consisted mainly of brochures received from other walking clubs

Sandy Washam, club treasurer, was not present. No Treasurer Report was given, ( Sandy Was called to a local fire house to assist in any earthquake problems).

Committee Report, YEAR AROUND WALKS: Kent YRE has had 54 walkers to date; Federal Way YRE has had 33 walkers to date; DuPont YRE has had 44 walkers and 4 bikers to date.

SALES:Alicia showed the latest sample of the club polo shirt. Those members present let Alicia know what size shirt they wanted. For those members who were not present please let Alicia know your size and how many shirts you wish to purchase.

MEMBERSHIP: Marianne Bastin reported that we have 66 paid members and 2 Honorary members; No other committee reports were taken.;

AVA CONVENTION: Jackie Meyer’s reported the current status regarding the number of workers. Over 100 have signed up so far. Without workers the convention walks will not function very well;

A letter was received from Carolyn Warhol requesting items for the Silent Auction. It was agreed that we would participate, but would not make the final decision on what to actually donate until our April meeting;

A request was also received for a donation of Hat Pins. This request was also put off until our April meeting

OLD BUSINESS: DuPont Walk March 24, 2001; Both workers walks were completed with a good turnout. 5K route is also completed and a map and directions have been finalized. Hat Pins have been received and are ready for purchase at a cost of $2.00 for club members. Work assignments are being prepared by Dean and Jack and you will be notified no later the 10 days before the walk where you will be working; New Balance give-a-ways have been received; we still have not got a final OK from Ft Lewis, on the bike trail; Dante our New Balance man from Olympia will be at the walk again this year. Thanks to all of you who have pre-registered for these events.

Juneau, Alaska.. All going well, requests for information are being received. Still waiting to hear from Tour Groups on how many patches they will need. Have requested AVA to

send IVV stamp early so we can get necessary walk material mailed to Barbara Coate in Juneau..

Northwest Trek, walk on June 9th. Brochure is being completed. Pathfinder ad is ready to send to ESVA; To date we have 58 Girl Scouts who have registered for this years patch.

October 6th walk at Centre @ Norpoint. Approval has been received from Janet for use of the centre as a start/finish point. We will have the same room as last year at no cost. The golf course has also given its OK for use as the check point. Have not heard as yet if there will be a Volksspsort Month Patch.

Girl Scouts, All going OK to date we will again host a walk on October 21, 2001, using our DuPont Year Around trails.

Social: Our annual walk together will be on Sunday, April 8th at 10am. We will walk the Kent YRE together and then go to the Godfather Pizza for lunch.

A summer picnic will be held at Dianne Halls home. It will be a pot luck, with “BYOB” Dianne has said to be sure and bring your bathing suit and a towel. More information will be coming.

HOPE BC, CANADA: The annual walk with our sister club from Chilliwack will be the weekend of September 29th & 30th. If you need any information regarding the hotel/motel we will be using give Jack a telephone call. Or call 1-800-228-5151.This is always a fun event so try to come.

New Business: Jack and Alicia were named as our delegate’s for the AVA Convention this June in Bellevue. The sum of $400 was approved to pay their registration fee’s

The meeting date for our June meeting has been changed from June 27th to June 28th. This change was necessary because of convention activities. This is our annual pizza party so make sure and note this change on your calendar.

If there is no additional business we will stand adjourned until March 28th..
