Sickness/Sympathy – (Joan Grieser) Joan sent a letter to John from the club in Canada. He has cancer and wasn’t at the Dupont event as in years past.
ESVA Meeting – This will be held in Pullman on August 16.
The following motions will be presented:
*Request purchase of Girl Scout footprint patches. Girl scouts will have one patch and add “footprints” for additional walks. Because of lack of information as to who would be responsible for issuing and paying for the footprint patches, a motion was made and seconded to table the discussion until more information is available.
*Transfer ESVA sponsored Events, Alki and NW Trek, to clubs. TOTHG board recommends partnering with Daffodil Valley Volkssport to host the 2/21 & 22, 2009 NW Trek event. Motion was made, seconded and passed to bid on the February 21 & 22, 2009 NW Trek event and split profit and expenses 50/50 with Daffodil Valley Volkssport.
Old Business
NW Trek – Recommendation was made that the donation motion made at the June 25 meeting to give NW Trek $500 and the Girl Scouts $200 should be revisited because of the corrected profit from the walk and the fact that the walk had been advertised as a fundraiser for NW Trek. The 2007 donation to the Girl Scouts was a onetime situation. Motion was made, seconded and passed to give the donation from profits of the NW Trek June 7, 2008 event to NW Trek and none to the Girl Scouts. Motion as made, seconded and passed to give NW Trek $450.
Club picnic – The picnic and walk on July 20 at Lake Wilderness was enjoyed by those who attended.
New member recruitment program has ended. Will be considering another program.
Break for Drawing – $14.00 was collected. Marilyn Vola won the drawing and received $7.00. $7.00 went to the club.
New Business
Dupont – Motion was made, seconded and passed to hold the Dupont event on March 28, 2009. Diane Wagner will take care of the following:
*Contact Chole Clark School to arrange for the start point when school opens in August.
*Contact City of Dupont about names of Porta Potty companies that might be less expensive than the one used for last year’s event.
*Invite the Chole Clark PTA to host a breakfast/bake sale, they choose.
*Invite Volks-ware to have sales at event.
Girl Scout Walk, Oct. 11, 2008 – Volunteers are needed. Skip Probst volunteered to trail sweep.
Club social events– Marilyn Viola sent out an e-mail to club members asking for suggestions. Motion was made, seconded and passed to have a club group walk on August 24 starting at 9 a.m. at the Nisqually YRE. Plans are to have breakfast at Hawks Prairie after the walk.
Storage of event supplies – The storage unit the club now rents costs $425.00 per year. Diane Wagner volunteered her pole barn for storage.
Good of the Order
A question was raised asking where does the club get marking supplies. Requests can be e-mailed to ESVA. It was suggested that TOTHG request 3 rolls pink and 3 rolls yellow polka dot ribbon.
Thank you goes to Alicia Maxcy for calling members to remind them of the meeting and finding the new meeting place at the Round Table Pizza.
Meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Marianne Bastin, secretary
