Minutes of the November 28, 2007 meeting
at The Commons, Food Court, Federal Way, WA

 

Call to Order
President, Diane Wagner, called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.

Minutes
Motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the minutes of the October 24, 2007 meeting.

Treasurer’s Report – Ken Greiser reporting
The current checkbook balance is $4,562.32.  A $500.00 check will be given to the Federal Way Food Bank next week along with donated non-perishable food items.

Mystery Membership Incentive
Thank you to Carol and Larry Walsh for wonderful idea to bring in new members. Members are encouraged to keep working on the project.  Ask Carol for information. Carol will arrange group walks starting in 2008.

YRE 
– DuPont – (Kathryn Kirkpatrick) 87-Walkers, 3 Bicycles
Juneau   – (Ken Grieser)    186 walkers ,  The walk is finished for the season. Thanks go
to Ken & Joan Grieser for going to Alaska and making arrangements for the
new start point.
Kent      – (Skip Probst)   118 Walkers
Maple Valley – (Carol Walsh) 115 Walkers
Membership
 – (Marianne Bastin) 57 members
Sales
 – (Alicia Maxcy) Distance/ event books and club polo shirts are available for purchase.
Sickness/Sympathy
 – (Joan Grieser) Get well cards were sent to Carol Walsh and Alicia Maxcy.

AVA Checkpoint – November issue

  1. Bob Wright has checked into club fundraising practices in regard to non-profit status.  TOTHG drawings at the meetings are legal.
  2. Prewalks are not allowed.  Workers walks are allowed if the person works the day of the event.
  3. When doing internet searches use www.Goodsearch.com, then select AVA. Each search earns AVA one penny.

December issue

  1. A suggested website for good non-profit information is www.irs.gov/charities/index.html
  2. AVA has inquired of member clubs if they would be interested in ordering AVA personalized business cards $22.36/500.  Something to think about.

Old Business
Christmas party 
– This will be held next Sunday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. at Black Bear restaurant 32065 Pacific Hwy. S., Federal Way.  If you wish to take part in the gift exchange please bring a $10 wrapped gift.  You also can still bring non-perishable food items that night for the food bank.

Dupont – New areas have been opened which may be used for walks.  Bill Stewart will get to work on routes.  A new checkpoint maybe needed as well as written directions and map for the walk/bike routes.  The checkpoint will need written directions and a map for reference.

NW Trek – Alicia will check on the amount of hat pins left over from previous events to see if there are enough to use as ‘B’ hat pins at the June event instead of ordering new.

Girl Scout walk 10/13/07 – TOTHG ended up with a $50.00 profit from this walk.  The motion was made, seconded and passed to donate this $50.00 profit to the Girl Scouts.

Break for drawing    No drawing was held.

New Business
Fall event
 – Several possible areas for an event were discussed.  A motion was made, seconded and passed to plan an event to be held in the fall of 2008.  Location and date to be decided later.

Elections – New officers for TOTHG will be elected at the June meeting.  Let Diane Wagner know if you are interested in being an officer or keeping the office you have now.

Good of the order
Carol Walsh is selling All Clubs books, a WA challenge that starts 1/1/08.
All 2008 Starting Points the club ordered have been sold.  Some events from Oregon and WA were left out.  An insert will be available soon.
