June 28th 2006 Meeting Minutes

THE OVER THE HILL GANG VOLKSSPORT CLUB MEETING

June 28, 2006

Held at Diamond Jim’s Restaurant, Federal Way, Washington

CALL TO ORDER:
Club President Skip Probst called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.  There were 17 members in attendance.

MINUTES:
The minutes were approved with the following corrections:  There were none.

CORRESPONDENCE:
None received.

TREASURERS REPORT:
Ken Grieser was not present to give a report.  Joan Grieser passed on a report for Norwest Trek Event, June 3, 2006.  There were 710 paid walkers, including the 267 Girl Scouts.  And 232 free walkers for a total of 942, with a profit of $303.80. There was a motion that this be rounder off to $304, and donated to Northwest Trek. Motion was approved.
I called Ken and as of today we have a bank balance of $5489.82

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
KENT YRE: Dixie Inabnit-Walkers to date: 71
DUPONT YRE: Elayne Chambers – Walkers to date: 33 Bike 11
JUNEAU YRE: Walkers to date: 24
SALES: Maxcy stated that she has a supply of record books and some club Polo shirts.
MEMBERSHIP: Marianne Bastin reported that we have paid 72 members, two honorary members and three lifetime members to date for a total of 77.
SICKNESS & SYMPATHY: Joan Grieser had nothing to report.

ESVA REPORT:
Carol Walsh stated that the next meeting of the ESVA would be in the Capitol dome in Olympia on Saturday, July 8th at 1:00 pm.

ELECTION COMMITTEE REPORT:
The election committee consisting of Diane Wagner and Alicia
Maxcy presented the following slate of nominees:  President – Diane Wagner, Vice President – Bill Stewart, Secretary – Marianne Bastin, and Treasurer – Ken Grieser.
There were no further nominations, thus the candidates were elected by a unanimous vote.

OLD BUSINESS:
Bob Hellers, Trail master of the Roegner Park walk in Auburn set for August 26th, said he needed more people to sign up for jobs.  A workers’ walk is scheduled for Sunday, July 30th at 1:00 pm.

BREAK FOR THE DRAWING:
$21.00 was collected.  Dorothy Blackmun won the raffle.  She received $ 10.50, and $ 10.50 went into the kitty.

NEW BUSINESS:
A club Wednesday walk is scheduled for July 5th at 9:00 am in Dupont.
A new year round route for 2007 is been established in the Maple Valley area.  The walk will consist of two 10K routes with an option for a combined 20K route.  After a bit of discussion, it was moved, seconded and passed to have the walks scheduled as a weekend event for Saturday, October 21st, 2006.
A new route for the year round Dupont walk with a start point at the Pegasus Café will begin in January 2007.

MEETING ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 7:33 pm.  THERE WILL BE NO MEETING IN JULY.  The next meeting will be Wednesday, August 23rd.
