October 26th 2005 Meeting Minutes

THE OVER THE HILL GANG VOLKSSPORT CLUB MEETING

October 26th, 2005

Held at Round Table Pizza, Auburn, Washington

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 7pm by President, Skip Probst.
Members present enjoyed pizza compliments of TOTHG Raffle fund

MINUTES:
A motion was made/seconded to accept the MINUTES from the September 23 meeting as submitted.

CORRESPONDENCE:
Included discount cards for Hertz rental cards.  Cards were available to interested members.

TREASURERS REPORT:
Ken Greiser, reported a balance of $7182.54.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
120 walkers participated at the Girl Scout walk in DuPont. Thanks given to Joan and Ken Greiser and Betty and Bob Hellers for making this a success.
KENT YRE: Dixie Inabnit-Walkers to date: 155 (The Safeway is being remodeled. A Daffodil Valley club member works at this store and will watch the box to see the box is not discarded during the remodel.) 
FEDERAL WAY YRE: Jack-Walkers to date: 112
DUPONT YRE: Elayne Chambers – Walkers to date: 92, Bike 17
JUNEAU YRE: Walkers to date: 139 Seasonal is closed for the season.
SALES: No Report
MEMBERSHIP:71 Members including 2 honorary members
SICKNESS & SYMPATHY: Cards went to Marcia Patten for the loss of husband Bill Patten and to Skip Probst for recovery from his accident and surgery

ESVA REPORT:
Given by Carol Walsh.  Officers elected to finish 2004-2006 term are club members Diane Wagner, first vice president and Bill Stewart, second vice president.  Bylaws and Standing Rules are being worked on in committee.  Effective 1-1-06 after action fee will be reduced to $.30 per paid participant. 25 Pathfinders are mailed to clubs for publicity purposes.  Clubs hosting ESVA meetings will receive $100 to help defray the cost of hosting the meeting.

AVA Report:
From the NW Regional Director.  Becky Forsythe requests clubs submit the number of volunteer hours done by club members.  New Balance will no longer be an AVA Sponsor.  This was an amicable parting.  Clubs are reminded not to use the New Balance logo after 1-1-06.  A special walk 11-19/20 will be held in Oregon to benefit the Katrina survivors.  A special stamp will be available for the walk.  AVA is working on establishing permanent trails in cities that will enable permanent trail markings.  Curt Myron and Becky Forsythe are working on Publicity for volkssporting.  Carol and Larry Walsh will be going to Oregon 10-20-05 to work at a Senior Health Fair

OLD BUSINESS:
Club Christmas party is 12-11.  The menu was submitted to members.
DuPont walk – Bill has been working on the trail.  Sidewalks are going in.  The fence should be done along the golf course.  A motion was made/seconded and passed to submit sanctions for 2 additional walks.  Skip will submit the sanction requests.
JP won the drawing at the break.

NEW BUSINESS:
motion was made/seconded and passed to donate $500 to the Katrina Relief fund at the November walk.  Another motion was made/seconded and passed to make the donation to Mercy Corp.  A motion was made/seconded and passed to have Bill Patten’s name added to the volkssport bench plaque at NW Trek.
