THE OVER THE HILL GANG VOLKSSPORT CLUB MEETING
August 24th, 2005
Held at Round Table Pizza, Auburn, Washington
CALL TO ORDER:
Club President Skip Probst called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. There were 21 members in attendance.
MINUTES:
The Minutes of the March meeting were approved after the following corrections, additions and/or deletions were made: There were none.
CORRESPONDENCE:
Letters were received from Northwest Trek and the Greater Tacoma Community Foundation thanking us for our donation.
TREASURERS REPORT:
Ken Grieser reported a bank balance of $6,353.82
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
KENT YRE: Dixie Inabnit-Walkers to date: No Rept. (Last report was 79)
FEDERAL WAY YRE: Jack-Walkers to date: 93
DUPONT YRE: Elayne Chambers – Walkers to date: 78, Bike 16
JUNEAU YRE: Walkers to date: 65
SALES:Alicia Maxcy stated that she had record books.
MEMBERSHIP:Marianne Bastin reported that we have paid 48 members, two Lifetime members, and two honorary members.
SICKNESS & SYNPATHY: Joan Grieser reported that Marci Patton has undergone breast cancer treatment and has had a knee replacement. Her husband, Bill, is in poor health. Jack Maxcy stated that we should consider each for Honorary membership in our club.
ESVA REPORT:
Carol and Larry Walsh gave a report. It was reported that Elinor Borgardts has resigned as President, and that First Vice President Pat Ellison has agreed to fill that vacant position. Jo Ann McAllister resigned from the
from the Second Vice Presidency because of an impending move to Germany. Likewise, her husband, Victor resigned as Northwest Area Coordinator.
The ESVA Finance Committee Recommendations Form was passed out to all club members in attendance and each topic was voted upon and the results will be submitted as a club vote.
OLD BUSINESS:
Workers are still needed in several categories for the Auburn Walk on August 27th, said Bob Hellers, Walk Coordinator. Trail marking will begin at 3 p.m., Friday, August 26th.
The Girl Scout Walk in Dupont is set for October 1st.
It was moved and seconded that the food provided by the Walsh’s at their Wine Fest be reimbursed, an amount of approximately $92.
BREAK FOR DRAWING:
$21 was collected. Theola Swann won the drawing. She received $10.50 and $10.50 went into the club kitty.
MEMBER ACHIEVEMENTS:
The A-Z City Challenge – None noted.
The NATURE Challenge – None noted.
IVV Awards – None Noted.
AVA Awards – Alicia Maxcy received an AVA Meritorious Service Award for significant contributions to the hobby of volkssporting.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Start Boxes at the Yelm and Aberdeen YRE Walks have been lost. Both were misplaced during a Safeway Stores remodeling activity.
ESVA is no longer selling T-shirts, etc. The remaining items will be up for sale at the Auburn Walk and at future walks.
It was moved and seconded that Honorary membership be given to Marci and Bill Patton.
It was moved and seconded that Pres. Skip Probst be paid gas mileage to the state meeting in Davenport, WA.
Steve Mackey and the members in attendance discussed the problems with members receiving the Minutes via e-mail.
All club events and YREs have been sanctioned except for the Federal Way YRE.
A new route will be established for 2007.
Bill Stewart agreed to be a nominee for ESVA Second Vice President, and Diane Wagner agreed to be a nominee for ESVA First Vice President.
MEETING ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 8:14 pm. Our next meeting will be September 28.
