April 27th 2005 Meeting Minutes

THE OVER THE HILL GANG VOLKSSPORT CLUB MEETING

April 27th, 2005

Held at Round Table Pizza, Auburn, Washington

CALL TO ORDER:
Club President Skip Probst called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. There were 14 members in attendance.

MINUTES:
The Minutes of the March meeting were approved after the following corrections were made: 1) A Sales report had been given; 2) Alicia Maxcy won $7, not $9 in the raffle; and 3) the Twin Lakes Country Club, not the Tacoma Elks Club was the other finalist along with the Des Moines Creek Restaurant for the location of the 2005 club Christmas Dinner.

TREASURERS REPORT:
Ken Grieser reported a bank balance of $6,068.95.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
KENT YRE: Dixie Inabnit-Walkers to date: 59
FEDERAL WAY YRE: Jack-Walkers to date: 61
DUPONT YRE: Elayne Chambers – Walkers to date: 44, Bike 5
JUNEAU YRE: Opens May 1st.
*Jack Maxcy further reported that the start point for the Federal Way YRE, the “Coffee Grounds” coffee shop, has closed and that the hairdresser shop next door will be the new start point.
SALES: Alicia Maxcy reported that she has AVA Record Books and States and Capitols Record Books available for purchase.
MEMBERSHIP:Bastin reported that we have 89 members to date.
SICKNESS & SYMPATHY: Joan Grieser will mail out a get-well card to Elayne Chambers.

ESVA REPORT:
Carol Walsh attended the ESVA Annual Meeting in Ellensburg on April 9th. Three new clubs have formed, one each in Ellensburg, Pullman and Redmond. ESVA has donated $250 to Northwest Trek. There is continuing discussion on lowering the current walk fee.

OLD BUSINESS:
Northwest Trek Walk – June 4th
Marilyn Viola said that is all is going well in regard to members volunteering to fill work positions at the walk. Trail marking is set for Friday, June 3rd.
2005 Christmas Dinner
Joan Grier gave a comparison of menu prices at the Twin Lakes Country Club and the Des Moines Creek Restaurant, the finalists for the location of the 2005 Christmas Dinner. She recommended the Des Moines Creek Restaurant. It was moved and seconded that the Des Moines Creek Restaurant be selected. The motion carried.

BREAK FOR DRAWING:
$15 was collected. Joan Grier won the drawing. She received $7.50 and $7.50 went into the club kitty. It was announced that Jerry Williams of the Evergreen Wanderers V.C. won the New Balance Shoe Drawing.

MEMBER ACHIEVEMENTS: 
The A-Z City Challenge – None noted.
The NATURE Challenge – None noted.
IVV Awards – None Noted.

NEW BUSINESS: 
It was moved and seconded that the June meeting be moved up to June 15th so as to not conflict with the dates for the AVA National Convention.
Becky Forsythe received the majority vote from our club for the position of Northwest Regional Director.
Jack Maxcy reported that 104 Girl Scouts were registered for the Northwest Trek Walk.
Bill Stewart announced that New Balance Shoes will be a co-sponsor of the 2005 Dupont Walk/Bike. He proposed the possibility of a T-shirt to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the town of Dupont. Jack Maxcy discussed the possibility of a Dupont logo for patches and/or hatpins, either the official Town of Dupont logo or one of our own design.
