THE OVER THE HILL GANG VOLKSSPORT CLUB MEETING

May 26th, 2004

Held at Round Table Pizza, Auburn, Washington

CALL TO ORDER:
President Jack Maxcy called the meeting to order at 7pm. There were 24 members present,

MINUTES:
Minutes from the April meeting were discussed and approved.

CORRESPONDENCE:
We received a letter of Thank You from the Girl Scouts for our donation.

TREASURERS REPORT:
Ken Grieser reports that our checkbook balance as of today is: $6429.12. Also to date our Club has donated to various causes, $16,488.69.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
KENT YRE: Skip-Walkers to date: 74
FEDERAL WAY YRE: Jack-Walkers to date: 90
DUPONT YRE: Elayne Chambers – Walkers to date: 62, Bike 9
JUNEAU: No total as of yet, but around 60+
SALES: Books are available. Also shirts and Jackets are available.
MEMBERSHIP: Marianne Bastin: Regular Members 90 Honorary 2 with a total of 92 members. Below are changes and additions to the most recent membership roster dated March 2004. Please correct your copy to keep it current. (new members have been with held, if you need a list of the new members please email Jack ()
SICKNESS & SYNPATHY: Cards were sent to Marcia Patten, George McCallum, Resi MacDonald, and Jack Maxcy.
WEEKEND WALKS: Dorothy Blackmun reports that the next walk will be in Zillah , WA on June 19 th . Let her know if you want to go so car-pooling can be arranged.
SOCIAL: Carol Walsh passed out a brochure detailing when and where out Summer Social will be held. It will be at Crystal River Ranch just out of Green Water. If you have any questions call Carol at 253-841-4775. Things to bring: Favorite Holiday dish, Lawn chair(s), your spouse or friend and BYOB. More information concerning the Social at the end of the minutes.
HOPE WALK: If you have any questions concerning this trip call Jack Maxcy at 253-927-4580. Telephone number for the motel in Hope is1-800-899-5996. There are spaces for Trailers and campers at the Motel.

The Canadian Volkssport Association has taken on the task of designing and procuring three new bike awards for the levels of 20,000km, 25,000km and 30,000km. The AVA has agreed to purchase these and they should be in stock shortly. Dust off your bikes, purchase a bike distance book and earn these new awards. One last thing is that the International Olympic Committee has officially recognized the IVV.

ESVA:
Northwest Regional Conference will be in July in Leavenworth , WA .

REGIONAL DIRECTOR :
His May report is on the web site.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Northwest Trek,Dianne Hall and JP Prizmich are in charge. Girl Scout registration to date is 156. Please wear your Club Jackets to this walk.
Auburn Walk , Bob and Betty Hellers are in charge of this walk. It will be held on August 28 th at Roegner Park . The workers walk for this event will be on August 22 nd at 1pm
Girl Scout Walk: This walk will be on October 10 th and will start at their new building in DuPont. Our annual Walk at DuPont in 2005 will be held on March 26. We will not be serving food.

BREAK FOR DRAWING :
Dianne Hall won. She took away a sum of $15. $14 was then added to our Club’s kitty.

NEW BUSINESS: 
Secretary Dauna Perry announced that the election for new officers would be held at our June 23 rd meeting at Round Table Pizza in Auburn , WA at 7pm. Those running for office will be: Jack Maxcy for President. Skip Probst for Vice President. Edith Hamilton for Secretary, and Ken Grieser for Treasurer. Nominations can be made from the floor that night at the meeting.
We have a new address for the Puckett’s.

Mid weekwalks are going well.
Our June meeting will be on the 23 rd . That will be our Pizza Party. We will start serving at 6:30pm. June has 5 Wednesdays, so mark your calendar.

Information and directions for our Summer Social, “Christmas in July Picnic”

9am Walk Greenwater . AVA-0015 Evergreen Wanderers. Follow directions below to Greenwater for Registration and return to Federation Forest for walk. This is a 10km walk. Start Point: Wapiti Woolies, 58414 SR410 E. I-5 northbound take exit 127 (SR512/Puyallup/Mt Rainier) to SR410 through Enumclaw and continue on SR410 for 17 ½ miles to main entrance of Federation Forest start point. Registration is located 1.9 miles further at Wapiti Woolies Store.
I-5 southbound , take exit 142A (SR18E) to Auburn Way/Enumclaw exit. Left on Auburn Way S 14 miles through Enumclaw and left on Roosevelt Ave E which becomes SR410. Trail is rated 2+. Please follow all rules posted in Federation Forest State Park , especially NO SMOKING.

DIRECTIONS TO CRYSTAL RIVER RANCH
Approx. 3.6 miles east of Greenwater toward Crystal Mtn. to Forest Service Road #74. Turn right across small bridge over the “ White River ”. Continue on and slightly bend left at “Y” in the road for approx. 1 mile. Clubhouse is on your left in back of managers office at 66201 Alpine. There will be pink ribbons all the way to get you in & to the clubhouse. Parking there and along the road. Carol and Larry will be there to help us park.
