THE OVER THE HILL GANG VOLKSSPORT CLUB MEETING
March 27th, 2002

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 7:04PM by President Jack Maxcy. No new members or guests were present.
MINUTES OF JANUARY 23, 2002 MEETING: Minutes from our February 27, 2002 meeting were approved as submitted.
CORRESPONDENCE: A card received from our sister club in Chilliwack, BC congratulating us on our 10th anniversary was read.
A thank you note was received from the Valley of The Sun Volkssport Club for a $100 donation. A thank you letter was read from Ginny Drumm acting Executive Director of the AVA for our $350 donation to AVA.
TREASURERS REPORT: Sandy Washam was ill. She made a telephone call stating we have $7,681.22 in our checking account plus cash on hand.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: No updates on walkers at this time.

SALES: Has IVV Books and club shirts on hand.
MEMBERSHIP: We have 75 paid and 2 honorary members for a total of 77
CLUB WEB PAGE, https://theoverthehillgang.net/ Members were advised there are new photographs of our DuPont walk on our web site.
SICKNESS & SYMPATHY: Joan Grieser was advised that George McCallum was hospitalized in Florida with a severe case of pneumonia. She will send a card to him.
SOCIAL: We will have our annual club walk in Kent on Saturday, April 7th. We will meet at 9am in the parking lot of the Quality Food Store. For those who are interested we will have lunch after walk at the Godfathers Pizza. All Members and friends are welcome.
CHECKPOINT: The contents of the March issue was read to the members.
AVA: The agenda for the EC Meeting on April 6, 2002 was read. The letter received from AVA President Nancy Stenger regarding the new computer system was read and discussed. We also discussed e-mail addresses now being used at our Texas Headquarters.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Results of our 10th annual volkswalk and bike were announced. We a total of 1146 walkers & bikers who participated in great weather. We had no problems with the exception of a couple of 5k walkers who got lost. All club members who were in town worked this event. Thanks to everyone for a job well done. This event again brought out a lot of free walkers do to local publicity. They all appeared to be having a good time..
Northwest Trek: This event will be on Saturday, June 8, 2002. Dianne Hall & “JP” Prizmich will be in charge of this event. A sign up sheet for workers was circulated. This will also be a Girl Scout walk, with girls coming from both Councils in our area. Pre-Registration for the girl scout patch is going well. Some 100 girls have already registered.
The Norpoint Center walk This event will be on Saturday, October 5, 2002. We will use the October Patch from AVA for this years award. Dean Puckett will be in charge for this event.
Year Around Walks: All going well. No problems with the Kent event since we put on a new lock of the start point cabinet. We are starting to get inquires for the Juneau walk.
Christmas Party: Will be on December 15, 2002 at the Tacoma Elks Club. This year we will start a little earlier. Social hour will be from
4pm to 5pm, with dinner being served at 5pm. Music for dancing will be from 4pm to 8pm. Alicia will have the menu in a couple of months.
NEW BUSINESS:
DUPONT 2003: It was voted to have our 11th annual walk & bike events on Saturday, March 22, 2003. The mayor has reserved that date for us to once again use City Hall. A donation in the amount of $500 for the DuPont Parks Department was also approved. A letter and the check will be sent to Judy Krill, the Mayor of the City of DuPont.
Club elections will be held in June of this year. Elections for all club officer positions will be held at our June meeting. Ken Grieser who had been appointed the chair of the Nomination Committee has resigned. He has indicated he may run for office. His wife Joan Grieser will now be in charge of this committee. Anyone who is interested in being a candidate for club office, please let Joan know.
