Minutes of the May 24, 2017 meeting
Round Table Pizza, 34410 – 15th Ave. Ct., Federal Way, WA, 6:30 p.m.

 

Call to Order Club president, Diane Wagner, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.  Eight members and 1 guest, Eleanor Borgardts, were present.

Correspondence Clubs and many members have received a letter from AVA describing the new privacy policy and procedure on the collection of personal information of members.  Included in the letter were instructions on how to opt out of having your information shared.

Milestones Betty Hellers has returned from a recent tour of Italy and Ireland.

TOTHG received a certificate at the annual ESVA meeting for the club’s 25th anniversary of forming as a Volkssport club!  The first event was March 23, 1993.

Minutes of the April 26, 2017 meeting A motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the minutes as submitted by the secretary.

Treasurer’s report Ken Grieser reported the checkbook balance.  An after action bill has not yet been received from the AVA.

Membership (Marianne Bastin) Club has 25 members.  Guest, Eleanor Borgardts joined at this meeting. Welcome Eleanor!

  Club dues are now being collected for the year 7/1/17 -6/30/18.  Several of you have paid.  Thank you.  If you are not sure of your status contact Marianne.

Sickness/Sympathy (Joan Grieser) No report.

AVA

The Convention in Billings, MT is coming up.

Last month the club voted on recommendations for Regional Director (Tom Baltes got the positions and Bylaw changes by AVA (change the name of NEC to Board of Directors, refer other issues back to AVA committees).

Nominations for AVA Officers: President and Treasurer are the only contested positions

  Candidates for President – Dave Bonewitz and Bob Wright (ESVA backs Bonewitz)

  Candidates for Treasurer – Bob Morrison and Candy Purcell (ESVA backs Morrison)

  Candidate for Vice President – Nancy Wittenberg

  Candidate for Secretary – Sam Korff

  A motion was made, seconded and passed to accept officers that ESVA has selected for the positions of AVA President and Treasurer.

  A motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the candidates for AVA Vice President and Secretary.

AVA Mascot:  Several pictures have been submitted.  

  A motion was made, seconded and passed to reject all submissions to date.

YRE/Seasonal sanctioning begins July 1, 2017.  Club needs to decide whether to keep the events that we now have.

ESVA (report from meeting in Spokane held in April)

  • Next year is NW Regional conference.  It will be in the Port Angeles area possibly in July.
  • There might be an ESVA cruise to AK next year also.  Buffy Wittenberg is looking into the feasibility.
  • September 1, 2017 is the 25th anniversary of The Over the Hill Gang.  We received a certificate and stamp plug to put into our event stamp (for DuPont).  Thanks to all of you for your hard work over the years.  Some of us have been members since the beginning.   We have been lucky enough to obtain new members along the way.
  • ESVA has a new walking challenge for 2018:  Distilleries, Wineries and Breweries.  Books available in the new year.

 

Break for Drawing $10.00 was collected.  Ken Grieser won $5.00. $5.00 went to the club.

New Business  The Issaquah YRE has been cancelled for now due to loss of the start point.  There is another walk available in Issaquah.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
