THE OVER THE HILL GANG VOLKSSPORT CLUB MEETING June 28th, 2001
Held at Round Table Pizza, Auburn, Washington
Club President, Jack Maxcy, called the meeting to order at 7:09 pm. There were 34 members present.
Minutes of the May meeting were discussed and approved. Everyone received a copy either by e-mail or pony express.
Introduction of Guests: Jack introduced our club members from Alaska. They are here for the AVA Convention being held in Bellevue. Glenn and Christine Fish of Anchorage and sons, Matthew and Mark. Also from Anchorage were Clyde and Raye Faulk. Also Diane Evans of Alexandria, VA was at our meeting, as was Daryl Pulley of Portland, OR.
Correspondence: A very nice thank you note was received from the Girl Scouts thanking us for the donation that we gave them. Various brochures were made available to look at after the meeting. A letter was received about the Alaska Regional Conference that will be held in August of 2002. Wendy writes that IVV books backlog is now 8 weeks.
Treasurers Report: there was none. Committee Reports: there were none.
Northwest Trek, June 9th Report: Awards, 572, credit only, 345, free, 472 for a total of 1389 and Girl Scouts, 619. Profit on this walk: $961. We are donating $1,000 to Northwest Trek.
The AVA 2001 Convention has come to a close. It was held in Bellevue, WA and according to Jack and Alicia it was a great success. Elections were held for President and Vice President of the American Volkssport Association. Nancy Stenger was elected President and Shirley Lindberg was elected Vice President. They are both members of our own Over The Hill Gang club. Our club was given a Gold Star Award, which is the highest award given to Volkssporting clubs. And our club president, Jack Maxcy was awarded the first Theodore Ballman Memorial Award For Youth Volkssports. The inscription reads “For Outstanding Achievement In The Development And Implementation Of Volkssporting Programs Designed To Improve The Lives Of The Youth Of Our Nation.” Our hats are off to you, Jack.
Upcoming Dates to remember: July 14th Summer Picnic at Dianne Hall’s. BYOB and a dish for the potluck also please include a serving spoon for your dish. Bring Swimming suit and towel. Add to that a jacket for going on the boat. September 29th and 30th, Hope BC Trip. October 6th Walk at The Center @ Norpoint October 21st Walk at Dupont for Girl Scouts at 10am. This walk is open to all Girl Scouts and their families as well as Club members. July 21-28th Daryl Pulley invited everyone to the Desert Classic Walks in Oregon. If you need information on these walks call Daryl.

From Highway 167, either north or south, take Highway 410 east; Take the third (3rd) Sumner exit; (1st is downtown – 2nd is Orting) This exit is 166th. Go LEFT under the freeway. Go up the hill to the third (3rd) light. Turn RIGHT onto West Tapps Drive (Fire station, Strip Mall & Boat Repair) Proceed on West Tapps 1.8 miles and turn LEFT on Jenks Point Way East. Go to 5002 Jenks Point Way East, which is one-half (1/2) block on your left. The house has a white post and copper tubing fence. Note: There is a steep driveway so please use the steps.
